Former Fighter, Commentator Frank Trigg Arrested on Battery Domestic Violence Charge in Nevada

Veteran mixed martial artist Frank Trigg has been arrested in Nevada on one charge of battery domestic violence with strangulation.

ProMMANow.com first reported the news, and Sherdog.com confirmed the information with a representative from the Clark County Detention Center on Thursday. Trigg was recently released on bond, and his arraignment is scheduled to take place Friday at 10:45 a.m. PT.

Allegations against Trigg publicly surfaced in April when a photo was published on gossip site TheDirty.com, allegedly of Trigg’s ex-wife following an October incident. Trigg, in the middle of divorce proceedings at the time, responded by issuing a statement through his management:

“First and foremost, we would like to make it very clear that the reports are completely false. Although Frank would like to personally address every detail of what has been said, a court order prevents both Frank (and his ex-wife) from talking about their pending divorce in this light. Despite what appears to be an obvious breach by his ex-wife, Frank will continue to abide by the order instituted. More importantly, Frank has three young children whose interests are paramount to any form of this he-said she-said trial by public opinion. He asks that the public please respect his privacy and that of his children as they transition into their lives post-divorce. Frank would also like to thank his fans, friends and family for their support during this extremely difficult time.”

Trigg was released from his job as a commentator at HDNet (now AXS TV) after the allegations surfaced, which he addressed in an interview with MMAFighting.com.

"[HDNet was] very nervous because of the affiliation that someone with a vendetta could make public statements about me that were untrue and inflammatory," said Trigg. "There's nothing I could do about it, because once it's on the Internet, it's on the Internet. They couldn't take the chance with a loose cannon being out there, and that's exactly what happened. That's 100 percent what happened. You can't fault HDNet for trying to save their company and trying to expand their network and what they're trying to do with their network by letting me go. They were scared of what was going to happen, and it happened."

Trigg, 40, last competed in September, dropping a split decision to Bellator alum Jim Wallhead at BAMMA 7. A veteran of 30 professional fights, “Twinkle Toes” competed for both the Pride Fighting Championships and the Ultimate Fighting Championship over the course of his 14-year career, twice failing to capture the UFC welterweight title from Hall of Famer Matt Hughes. A former Icon Sport middleweight champion, Trigg owns notable career wins over Jason Miller, Kazuo Misaki and Dennis Hallman (twice), among others.
