Following six losses in nine fights, former Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight Cody McKenzie has retired from mixed martial arts.

The 27-year-old made the announcement via Twitter on Thursday, a mere 24 hours after being finished by Beslan Isaev at M-1 Challenge 54 with a perfectly placed knee to the body.

With a professional record of 15-6, McKenzie is best known for his stint on “The Ultimate Fighter 12,” which he parlayed into a seven-fight UFC career. “AK Kid” finished 13 of his wins by submission, often relying on his patented “McKenzitine choke.”
