UFC veteran Tyson Griffin has signed with the Las Vegas-based World Series of Fighting and hopes to debut for the organization this summer.

Griffin announced the news Tuesday via Twitter, requesting an August promotional debut. Though WSOF 4 was initially expected to take place on July 27, Sherdog.com recently confirmed with a promotion official that the event has in fact been postponed to August. Griffin’s first opponent has not yet been announced.

“I’m excited to say I have a multiple-fight contract with [World Series of Fighting],” wrote Griffin. “I hope to be on the August WSOF card and can’t wait to put on the most exciting fight the WSOF fans have ever seen!”

Griffin, 29, parted ways with the UFC in 2011 after spending five years with the company. After posting seven wins in his first nine UFC bouts, Griffin exited the Octagon having lost four of his final five. Following a two-fight featherweight stint to end his UFC career, Griffin returned to 155 pounds for his most recent outing, handing fellow UFC alum Efrain Escudero a unanimous decision defeat this past November at RFA 4.

WSOF will hold its third event on June 14 at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
