The Bellator MMA roster just gained a seasoned mixed martial arts veteran in Jon Fitch.
“The addition of an elite fighter like Jon Fitch to our roster helps reiterate that we have the best welterweight division in MMA,” Bellator President Scott Coker said in a press release. “There are a number of high-profile matchups that we can make and I look forward to seeing what he can do inside the Bellator cage.”
Fight fans will be excited at the potential matchups at welterweight, as Bellator has some of the best 170 pounders on the planet, including current champion Rory MacDonald, Douglas Lima, Paul Daley, Michael Page and Lorenz Larkin. While Fitch (30-7, 1 NC) is at the end of his career, he may still be good enough to match up with the top welterweights in the division.
Fitch fought arguably the greatest welterweight of all time in George St. Pierre in 2008 for the UFC welterweight title, although he lost the five round contest via unanimous decision.
