The ideal date for Georges St. Pierre’s Octagon return, at least according to Dana White, is UFC 213 on July 8.

“I could be fighting here in a few months….Can’t wait,” St. Pierre wrote on Twitter.

The UFC made its New York debut at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 12 with a card headlined by a lightweight championship showdown between Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez. The Las Vegas-based promotion hasn’t announced a 2017 date for the Garden, but MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani reported that the UFC has been eyeing a return to the venue in November.
It was announced earlier this year that St. Pierre would face reigning middleweight champion Michael Bisping at a date to be determined. Bisping recently threatened to give Yoel Romero the title shot if St. Pierre wasn’t ready to fight by the summer.
“If [St. Pierre’s] not ready, then I guess Yoel Romero gets his title shot,” Bisping said. “I’m not afraid of Yoel Romero. If GSP wants to fight, of course – there’s a great story there…But I’m not willing to sit around, and he doesn’t get to call the shots. It’s my belt and I’m not some little asshole waiting in the wings for my title shot. I’ve got the belt and I want to fight. I’m in my prime. I don’t want to sit around for a year. If we don’t fight until September or October, that would be a year and I’m not willing to wait a year for Georges St. Pierre.”
