Georges St. Pierre Tells Michael Bisping He’ll Be Ready to Fight ‘Any Time After October’

It appears that Michael Bisping and Georges St. Pierre are getting closer to locking down a date for their middleweight championship fight.

St. Pierre delivered a message to the UFC’s reigning 185-pound king via Twitter on Friday, offering a timetable for when he would be ready to face “The Count” in the Octagon.

“Mr. Bisping, I cleared my entire schedule to get ready for training camp after the summer. So I can fight you any time after October. You pick the date. Let’s get it on.”

The UFC announced earlier this year that Bisping would defend his crown against the returning St. Pierre at an as-yet-to-be determined date in 2017. After defeating Johny Hendricks at UFC 167 in November 2013, St. Pierre vacated his welterweight title and announced that he would be taking an indefinite leave from MMA.

UFC President Dana White initially targeted UFC 213 on July 8 as the potential destination for Bisping-St. Pierre, but that now seems unlikely. Bisping, meanwhile, recently claimed that he would be unwilling to wait for St. Pierre past the summer, as the British champion has not competed since besting Dan Henderson via unanimous decision at UFC 204 this past October.

St. Pierre attended an NHL playoff game at Madison Square Garden earlier this week and hinted that the venue could be the site of his first UFC bout in nearly four years. The Las Vegas-based promotion has not officially announced another event for the Garden but is reportedly targeting November for its next card in New York City.
