A featherweight duel pitting Georgi Karakhanyan against Daniel Pineda has been added to the Bellator 182 card, the promotion announced Friday.
Bellator 182 takes place at Turning Stone Casino in Verona, N.Y. on Aug. 25 and is headlined by a welterweight showdown between former champion Andrey Koreshkov and Chidi Njokuani. The evening’s main card airs on Spike at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT. According to the announcement, Karakhanyan vs. Pineda will take place on the preliminary bill.
A former World Series of Fighting titlist, Karakhanyan has gone 3-3 during his second Bellator MMA tenure. Most recently, the 32-year-old saw a two-fight winning streak come to an end in a majority decision loss to Emmanuel Sanchez at Bellator 170. “Insane” is 26-7-1 as a pro and owns wins over the likes of Bubba Jenkins (twice), Lance Palmer, Waylon Lowe, Din Thomas and Hiroyuki Takaya.
A seven-time UFC competitor, Pineda has won four of his five bouts since leaving the Las Vegas-based promotion. After dropping his Bellator debut to Sanchez via split decision, Pineda tapped out Mark Dickman in his next outing at Bellator 161.
