Bellator 132 will feature a featherweight co-main event between Georgi Karakhanyan and Bubba Jenkins.
Bellator MMA President Scott Coker announced the matchup Monday during an appearance on “The MMA Hour.” Bellator 132 takes place Jan. 16 at Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, Calif., and is headlined by a 145-pound title fight between champion Patricio Freire and ex-titleholder Daniel Straus.
The former World Series of Fighting featherweight champion, Karakhanyan returns to Bellator after nearly four years away from the organization. Since losing to Freire in his last Bellator appearance, the 29-year-old Millennia MMA product has won nine of 10 bouts, losing his WSOF title to Rick Glenn in his last outing in June.
Jenkins, 26, will ride a four-fight winning streak into a match against his toughest opponent to date. An NCAA Division I wrestling champion at Arizona State University, “The Highlight Kid” transitioned to mixed martial arts in 2011 and has since compiled an 8-1 record, including a 5-1 mark under the Bellator banner.
