Gian Villante will welcome Corey Anderson to the Octagon in his first action since appearing on “The Ultimate Fighter 19.” The light heavyweight bout will take at UFC 181.
Villante has alternated between wins and losses since joining the UFC roster after a stint in Strikeforce. The 29-year-old has finished his opponents in nine of his 12 victories, but has suffered defeat when taking a step up in competition, namely against Fabio Maldonado, Ovince St. Preux and Lorenz Larkin. Villante’s last outing came against Sean O’Connell in June at UFC Fight Night “Marquardt vs. Te Huna,” where he earned a split decision win.
The light heavyweight winner “TUF 19,” Anderson only required 61 seconds to brutally finish Matt Van Buren at “The Ultimate Fighter 19” finale in July. “Beastin 25/8” represents The Kennel Fight Club and was a member of Frankie Edgar’s squad on the Fox Sports 1 reality show.
