Although it has been rumored Gina Carano will return to mixed martial arts to face UFC women’s bantamweight queen Ronda Rousey, the ex-Strikeforce titlist currently has other endeavors lined up for the second half of 2014.
Carano is set to star in the movie ”Bus 657” alongside Robert De Niro, Dave Bautista and Kate Bosworth. According to a report from MMAFighting.com, Carano will play a police officer in pursuit of two men who attempt to hijack two buses filled with hostages in a casino robbery. Aside from “Bus 657,” which begins filming in October, the report also notes that Carano has already been tabbed for a role in another motion picture in December.
With UFC President Dana White promising a Carano signing “soon,” the reality could be that she signs with the promotion sometime in 2015, if at all.
Carano’s Hollywood exploits could slow plans for a pairing with Rousey by the end of 2014. Rousey has publicly stated that she prefers Carano as her next opponent over other potential options such as Cat Zingano or Holly Holm.
