Glory 14 ‘Cro Cop vs. Bonjasky’ Peaks at 588,000 Viewers During Spike TV Main Event

Glory’s most recent kickboxing show on Spike TV peaked at 588,000 viewers during UFC veteran Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic’s heavyweight main event opposite Dutch kickboxing legend Remy Bonjasky.

The show took place March 8 in Zagreb, Croatia, and averaged 495,000 viewers during the tape-delayed broadcast. The event also featured UFC and World Series of Fighting alum Dustin Jacoby, who suffered a first-round knockout to Brazilian kickboxer Alex Pereira. Bonjasky defeated “Cro Cop” in the evening’s headliner, scoring a controversial majority decision win in what was billed as the formal retirement bout for “The Flying Gentleman.”

Initially a K-1 kickboxing star, Filipovic made waves in the mixed martial arts world by joining Japan’s Pride Fighting Championships in 2001, becoming one of the sport’s most feared heavyweights during his run with the promotion. The highlight of the Croat’s MMA career came in 2006, when he won Pride’s open-weight grand prix by finishing Wanderlei Silva and Josh Barnett in a single night.

The 39-year-old then joined the UFC and experienced mixed results, going 4-6 in 10 Octagon outings over more than four years of competition. Filipovic last fought under MMA rules this past November, when he submitted to an Alexey Oleinik neck crank within Russia’s Legend organization.
