Glory 42 Weigh-in Results: Doumbe, Holzken Primed for Welterweight Title Rematch

By Mike Sloan Jun 9, 2017
Glory, the world’s leading kickboxing promotion, returns to the Accorhotels Arena in Paris, France, on Saturday for what should be an excellent night of action. Glory 42: Paris is headlined by the welterweight championship between reigning champ Cedric Doumbe and former titlist Nieky Holzken.

At Friday’s weigh-ins, the two featured fighters came in right on the money. Holzken, who captured the Glory welterweight championship tournament in 2013 and then the vacant crown two years later at Glory 23. The Dutch phenom defended the belt thrice before losing it on points to Doumbe at Glory: Collision last December. “The Natural” weighed in officially at 168.7 pounds for his rematch.

Doumbe has been on a tear, having won his last 11 bouts and 16 of 17 overall. The Frenchman is coming off an impressive decision win over rival Yoann Kongolo at Flory 39 in March, a man he had already lost twice to. Not looking to relinquish his world title on his second defense, “Le Meilleur” came in at 169.3 pounds.

Glory 42 also boasts a four-man one-night light contender tournament. Nicklas Larsen (154.1 pound) will oppose Massaro Glunder (153.7 pounds) in the first semifinal while Anatoly Moiseev (153.2 pounds) will lock horns with Christian Baya (153 pounds) in the other.

The Glory42 SuperFight Series will kick things off on UFC Fight Pass at 12:30 p.m. ET/9:30 a.m. PT. The action then shifts over to ESPN3 for the main card, which begins at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT.
