Glory Headed to Amsterdam for Huge Year-End Event
Kickboxing promotion Glory announced Thursday that it has massive
plans at the end of the year, as Glory 26 will be held inside RAI
Amsterdam on Friday, Dec. 4, and will be populated with two title
fights and a single-night tournament.
The main event of Glory 26 will feature heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven (46-10, 11 KOs) defending his crown against the last man standing in Glory 24’s heavyweight tournament winner, which is set for Oct. 9 in Denver. The four men vying for the chance to challenge for the belt are Benjamin Adegbuyi, Mladen Brestovac, Ben Edwards and Jahfarr Wilnis.
The co-featured bout of Glory 26 will be manned by a welterweight
championship showdown between titlist Nieky Holzken (87-11, 46 KOs)
and the winner of another contender tournament set to take place at
Glory 25 in Milan on Friday, Nov. 6. Those four participants will
be announced shortly, according to Glory representatives.
"We are proud to be able to host this historic event in Amsterdam with the blessing of Mayor Van der Laan's office," said Glory CEO Jon Franklin. "After a year of negotiations by our team, the Dutch fans will finally be able to experience the world's top kickboxing league live.
"The Netherlands has such a rich history of kickboxing, from the world-renowned gyms to the numerous championship athletes the region has produced,” he added. “In fact, three of our six reigning Glory champions are Dutch and two of those champions, Rico and Nieky, are going to put on a show for their countrymen in December."
The event will also feature a one-night fight-man featherweight contender tournament. One of the combatants in the bracket will be Mosab Amrani (53-10-4, 16 KOs). The other three, as well as a full undercard and prelims, will be announced at a later date.
