Glover Teixeira Expects Wrestling to Carry Jon Jones to Victory at UFC 165

After beating Ryan Bader at UFC Fight Night 28, Glover Teixeira has been guaranteed a light heavyweight title shot against the winner of Saturday's fight between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson. Although he believes Gustafsson deserves the chance he has received, Teixeira favors the reigning champion at UFC 165.

"Gustafsson deserves this opportunity. He had good performances in beating both Thiago Silva and Shogun," Teixeira told Sherdog.com. "No one should underestimate him, but I believe that Jon Jones' wrestling, which is way better than that of Gustafsson, will be key in this fight. Gustafsson may be even a little better standing, but he does not have the wrestling of Jones."

The Brazilian admits that facing Jones for the belt would add special meaning to his career.

"Beating Jon Jones is greater because he has appeared to be invincible for some time and he has beaten some great fighters. Beating him would have a better taste,” Teixeira said. “But Gustafsson has a chance, I wouldn't bet 100 percent on Jones. Let's see who will win. Either way, I do not care -- I want the belt."

After knocking out Bader, Teixeira seemed disappointed with his performance, but he said the frustration was short-lived.

"At the time I was a little [disappointed], but only at the moment, because I made some mistakes that I shouldn't have,” he said. “I cannot make mistakes. I train every day and do not accept it. I was angry with myself, but Ryan is a great fighter, one of the best in the world, and I was very happy in the end."
