A proposed bantamweight clash between Guangyou Ning and Marlon Vera at UFC on Fox 21 has been scrapped, the promotion recently announced.
According to a release, “issues with the timing of Ning receiving his visa” resulted in the cancellation of the bout. It is unclear if the matchup will be rescheduled for a future event. UFC on Fox 21 takes place at Rogers Arena in Vancouver and is headlined by a welterweight scrap between Carlos Condit and Demian Maia.
Ning has won two of his three bouts in the Octagon but is coming off a split-decision loss to Marco Beltran at UFC Fight Night in South Korea on Nov. 28. He was recently cleared of any wrongdoing by USADA for failing an out-of-competition drug test earlier this year.
Vera last competed at UFC Fight Night “Silva vs. Bisping” on Feb. 27, dropping a unanimous decision to Davey Grant. He is 1-2 during his tenure with the Las Vegas-based promotion.
