Hamman Drops to Middleweight, Faces Dollaway at UFC Live 5

Following a 1-2 Octagon run at light heavyweight, Jared Hamman (Pictured) will make the move to 185 pounds when he takes on “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 7 runner-up C.B. Dollaway at UFC Live 5.

The UFC announced the matchup on its official website Monday, noting that the fighters have verbally agreed to meet at the Versus-televised event, which goes down Aug. 14 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee. A welterweight tilt between former title challenger Dan Hardy and crowd-pleasing slugger Chris Lytle is expected to top the UFC’s inaugural Milwaukee card.

Hamman, 29, enters the contest sporting a professional mark of 12-3, with nine knockout victories and two submission wins to his name. A training partner of Vladimir Matyushenko, the Californian’s record is bolstered by wins over Aaron Rosa, Travis Wiuff and Rogent Lloret.

After being rudely welcomed to the UFC in November 2009 with a 41-second Alexander Gustafsson knockout, Hamman rebounded with a March 2010 unanimous nod over Rodney Wallace. Most recently, “The Messenger” was dealt a three-round decision loss by the surging Kyle Kingsbury at September’s UFC Fight Night 22.

A former NCAA Division I All-American at Arizona State University, the 27-year-old Dollaway comes off a 54-second knockout loss to fellow wrestler Mark Munoz. Prior to the March 3 defeat, “The Doberman” had won three straight starts, submitting Joe Doerksen while decisioning Goran Reljic and Jay Silva. The Ohio native holds an overall UFC record of 5-3 and has seen the judges’ scorecards only twice since joining the Zuffa ranks in June 2008.
