A heavyweight battle between newly signed prospect Lorenzo Hood and Raphael Butler will kick off the Bellator 141 main card, promotion officials announced Wednesday.
Bellator 141 takes place on Aug. 28 at Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, Calif., and is headlined by a lightweight clash pitting Melvin Guillard against Brandon Girtz. The evening’s main card will be televised on Spike TV beginning at 9 p.m. ET, while the preliminary draw streams on Spike.com starting at 7 p.m. ET.
Hood enters his Bellator MMA debut with a professional mark of 9-2. The Illinois native last competed in December, scoring a technical knockout victory over Joshua Anderson at a regional event. All nine of Hood’s victories have come via knockout or technical knockout and have ended inside of a round.
The 31-year-old Butler has compiled a 4-1-1 record with Bellator, including a first-round submission of Josh Diekmann in his most recent outing at Bellator 134. “The Silencer” has finished all of his triumphs inside the distance.
