A heavyweight showdown between Alistair Overeem and Roy Nelson will go down at UFC 185.
Promotion officials confirmed the pairing following an initial report from The Dallas Morning News. UFC 185 takes place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on March 14 and is headlined by a lightweight title tilt between Anthony Pettis and Rafael dos Anjos.
Overeem improved to 3-3 in the Octagon in his most recent outing, a first-round knockout of Stefan Struve at UFC on Fox 13. The former Strikeforce king also owns triumphs over Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir during his promotional tenure.
Nelson, meanwhile, has lost three of his last four fights, including a second-round knockout defeat to Mark Hunt at UFC Fight Night in Japan on Sept. 20. “Big Country” has defeated the likes of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Cheick Kongo, Matt Mitrione, Struve and Brendan Schaub during his Octagon career.
