Heavyweights Travis Browne, Gabriel Gonzaga to Clash at ‘The Ultimate Fighter 17’ Finale

Heavyweights Travis Browne and Gabriel Gonzaga have agreed to square off at “The Ultimate Fighter 17” finale.

UFC President Dana White announced the matchup via Twitter on Monday. The “TUF 17” finale takes place at the Joint at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on April 13.

Browne went unbeaten in his first five UFC appearances, most notably knocking out fellow prospect Stefan Struve with a superman punch at UFC 130. “Hapa” came up short in his first headlining appearance, however, suffering a first-round technical knockout defeat to Antonio Silva at UFC on FX 5. The Jackson’s MMA product later revealed that he had torn a hamstring early in the Oct. 5 bout.

After a one-fight hiatus, Gonzaga returned to the Octagon in 2012 with a first-round submission of Ednaldo Oliveira at UFC 142. Most recently, the onetime heavyweight title challenger tapped Ben Rothwell with a guillotine choke in the second round of their UFC on FX 7 encounter.
