A welterweight bout between
Jay Hieron and
Joe Riggs will air on a live stream at EASports.com in conjunction with
Strikeforce “Miami” this Saturday at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla.
The single bout will broadcast live on EA Sport’s MMA page at 9:05 p.m. EST/6:05 p.m. PST. EA Sports will debut its “EA Sports MMA” video game later this year, with Strikeforce a featured promotion in the game.
“It’s definitely one of those fights that deserved to be aired somewhere, so we’re glad to get the opportunity to do this,” Strikeforce’s Director of Communications Mike Afromowitz told Sherdog.com on Monday.
With two title fights, a featured middleweight bout between
Robbie Lawler and
Melvin Manhoef and the promotional debuts of
Herschel Walker and
Bobby Lashley dominating the event’s main card, Hieron-Riggs had been slated as a non-televised undercard bout.
In the night’s main bout,
Nick Diaz and
Marius Zaromskis will vie for the promotion’s first-ever welterweight championship, while Cris “Cyborg” Santos will defend her women’s middleweight title against Golden Glory’s
Marloes Coenen.
