Shawn Porter did what no other man has done before: destroy former two-time world champion Paulie Malignaggi. Porter (24-0-1, 15 KOs) was all over “The Magic Man” from the opening bell and never let the Brooklyn boxer to settle in. He forced Malignaggi into a slugfest and it paid off.
Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin kept his unbeaten record in tact with a 12 round dismantling of the rugged Lukas Konecny (50-5, 23 KOs), earning a unanimous decision along the way. Quillin had some difficulty in breaking past the Czech’s cagey peek-a-boo style, but he dug thudding hooks to the body and ripped sharp uppercuts on the inside when he could. Lonecny was busted up around his eyes, nose and mouth by the time the fight was over and there was no debate as to who was the victor. In the end, the three ringside judges all favored Quillin (31-0, 22 KOs) via tallies of 120-108 and 119-109 (twice), which allowed him to retain his WBO middleweight title.
