The intriguing UFC 203 event is nearing completion as Ultimate Fighting Championship officials announced on Thursday that flyweight veteran Ian McCall will stand opposite Ray Borg. The card will be held on Sep. 10 inside Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland and will be televised on pay-per-view.
McCall was slated to fight Justin Scoggins at UFC 201 but the fight fell into shambles when Scoggins failed to make weight after a horrendous weight-cutting disaster. McCall refused to fight his foe at a catchweight, thus scrapping the bout altogether. It was rumored that McCall would fight Wilson Reis at UFC 202, but Zuffa officials opted against it and placed him on the Cleveland event instead.
Borg, meanwhile, had won three in a row but fell short against Scoggins at UFC Fight Night 82 in February. He lost a decision that night and is looking to turn his fortunes around when he climbs into the Octagon against McCall.
UFC 203 will be headlined by the heavyweight champion between defending champion Stipe Miocic as he takes on Alistair Overeem. Ben Rothwell will meet former champ Fabricio Werdum in a critical encounter in the co-feature while WWE superstar Phil Brooks will make his UFC debut against Mickey Gall.
The event will be aired live on UFC Fight Pass, Fox Sports 1 and, of course, PPV.
