Injuries Shuffle UFC on Fox 6 Undercard; Kuiper-Janousek, Natal-Spencer Set for Jan. 26

Injuries have forced the UFC to make two more changes to the UFC on Fox 6 undercard, as middleweights Michael Kuiper and Rafael Natal will square off with Josh Janousek and Sean Spencer at the Jan. 26 event.

Promotion officials announced the news Tuesday, revealing that Buddy Roberts and Magnus Cedenblad had withdrawn from their respective pairings due to injury. The development marks the third change of opponent for Kuiper, who was previously booked to face Thiago de Oliveira Perpetuo, Caio Magalhaes and Roberts before injuries scrapped all three matchups.

Headlined by a flyweight title showdown between reigning champion Demetrious Johnson and challenger John Dodson, UFC on Fox 6 takes place next Saturday at Chicago’s United Center. The evening’s main card airs live on the Fox network, while FX will broadcast the prelims.

Kuiper, 23, was handed his first career defeat by Natal in his Octagon debut but rebounded from that setback to stop Jared Hamman last August at UFC 150. Janousek, meanwhile, joins the UFC on the strength of a six-fight winning streak. The NCAA Division II wrestling standout has finished five of his eight career victims, earning three wins by way of knockout.

Natal, 30, saw a two-fight winning streak snapped in his most recent outing against Andrew Craig, who recovered from a knockdown to stop “Sapo” with a second-round head kick last July at UFC on Fuel TV 4. In Spencer, Natal faces a once-beaten prospect riding three straight wins heading into his Octagon debut. Spencer last competed in August, when he took a unanimous decision over Evan Cutts under the Texas-based Legacy Fighting Championship banner.
