Injury Forces Huerta Off UFC 61 Card
Roger Huerta (Pictures), hurt in training earlier this
week, sustained an elbow injury that has forced him to withdraw
from his scheduled UFC debut against fellow lightweight Hermes Franca (Pictures), Sherdog.com has learned.
Huerta’s teammate Joe Jordan (Pictures), who is 19-9-2 in mixed martial arts and has won all five of his fights in 2006, is rumored to have accepted the fight.
If true, he will be taking on the always-tough Brazilian Franca (14-5-0) as he makes his UFC return after 27 months away from the promotion. Franca has had mixed results over that stretch, tallying a 6-3 record, including four wins in a row.
