Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and Satoshi Ishii are officially set for their Inoki Genome Federation heavyweight title bout on New Year’s Eve after hitting the scales Tuesday in Japan.
Titleholder Filipovic weighed in at 234.79 pounds, while Ishii came in at 236.77, according to a release from the promotion. The pair will headline “Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye 2014” on Wednesday at Ryogoku Kokugikan sumo hall in Tokyo.
The show’s co-main event will feature fighters with a 100-plus pound weight differential, as American Chris Barnett (334.66) takes on ex-sumo turned pro-wrestler Shinichi Suzukawa (220.9). Also, former lightweight ranker Shinya Aoki (154.65) will compete on New Year’s Eve for the eighth time when he faces Yuki Yamamoto (154.98).
