The most destructive force in women’s MMA has her sights set on another target.
Cristiane Justino checked in at 144.6 pounds, as she prepares to defend the Invicta Fighting Championships featherweight title against Daria Ibragimova (143.7) in the Invicta 15 main event on Saturday at The Hangar at OC Fair in Costa Mesa, California. Strawweight champion Livia Renata Souza (113.9) and challenger DeAnna Bennett (114.6) also met the contractual weight requirements for their co-headliner at Friday’s official weigh-in.
Justino will enter the cage on a four-fight winning streak, having disposed of her past two opponents in less than a minute. The 30-year-old Chute Boxe star last appeared at Invicta 13 on July 9, when she cut down Faith Van Duin with a knee to the body and follow-up punches 45 seconds into their encounter. “Cyborg” has not lost a fight in more than a decade, her resume dotted with victories over Marloes Coenen (twice), Gina Carano, Shayna Baszler and Hitomi Akano.
Ibragimova has rattled off seven straight wins since being triangle choked by Cindy Dandois at an M-1 Global event in March 2010. The 31-year-old Russian has recorded seven of her nine career victories by submission: three by rear-naked choke and four more by armbar. Ibragimova last competed in March, when she needed just 28 seconds to tap Anastasia Plisenkova under the Eurasia Fight Nights banner.
