Sarah D’Alelio will look for her second consecutive win with Invicta Fighting Championships on July 28.
“Vanessa’s really tough, really strong, really aggressive and good on the ground, but I’m all of those things, too,” D’Alelio said in a release. “This is a great fight, and I think it’s going to be a serious battle. If I win, it will put me in top contender status.”
D’Alelio was victorious at the promotion’s initial venture on April 28, forcing Vanessa Mariscal to submit to punches at 3:18 of the second round. That win stopped a two-fight skid for the Olympia, Wash., native, who had lost to Ronda Rousey and Julie Kedzie in her last two outings. “The Monster” began her professional career with four straight victories, finishing each of her opponents by technical knockout or submission.
Porto will carry a four-fight winning streak into her encounter with D’Alelio. The Brazilian has finished 10 of her 14 career victories by way of submission and is one of only two people to go the distance with Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos in defeat, dropping a three-round verdict to the former Strikeforce champion in 2005.
