Invicta Fighting Championships, the world’s leading all-female mixed martial arts promotion, returns Saturday night to deliver another wild night of violence to fight fans. Invicta FC 22 takes place inside Kansas City Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, with an intriguing main event set for the bantamweight title.
Tonya Evinger will aim to properly defend her championship belt when she faces Yana Kunitskaya in an immediate rematch from their highly controversial battle last November at Invicta FC 20. In that bout, Evinger was caught in an armbar and eventually submitted, losing her title in the process. However, while she was defending the armbar, the referee instructed her to move from a legal position. When she did, she wound up putting herself in greater danger even though her original position was, in fact, legal. Evinger successfully appealed her case to the Missouri Athletic Commission and not only had her lost reversed to a “No Contest,” she wound up getting her 135-pound belt back in the process.
Now it’s time for Part II and both women weighed in right on the money on Friday morning. Kunitskaya was the first to weigh in and the “Foxy” Russian came in at 134.8 pounds. Evinger looked as fierce as ever and followed suit; “Triple Threat” weighed in at 134.8 pounds.
Invicta FC 22 will be streamed live in its entirety on UFC Fight Pass. The action will begin at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
