Ion Cutelaba to Battle Jared Cannonier at ‘TUF 24’ Finale

A light heavyweight scrum between Jared Cannonier and Ion Cutelaba has been tacked onto “The Ultimate Fighter 24” Finale, the Ultimate Fighting Championship revealed on Thursday.

Cannonier suffered a nasty defeat at the hands of Shawn Jordan in his Octagon debut, where “The Savage” flattened him in the first at UFC 182. However, “The Killa Gorilla” bounced back nicely as he torched Cyril Asker in less than three minutes at UFC Fight Night 86 in April. He’s aiming to keep the momentum going against Cutelaba, who is a similar position.

Cutelaba was subbed by Misha Cirkunov via arm-triangle choke in the third when they fought at UFC Fight Night 89 in June. But the Moldovan rebounded with a unanimous decision win over Jonathan Wilson at UFC Fight Night 96 on Oct. 1.

The TUF 24 Finale, which will go down inside the Pearl at the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas, will have the prelims streamed live on UFC Fight Pass, followed by the remainder of the card on FS1. The event will be headlined by the flyweight championship between titleholder Demetrious Johnson and the winner of the reality show.

Also slated for the bill will be a grudge match between TUF 24 coaches Joseph Benavidez and Henry Cejudo while jiu jitsu wizard Ryan Hall will take on veteran Gray Maynard.
