A middlweight matchup pitting Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza against Yoel Romero has been rescheduled for UFC on Fox 15 “Rockhold vs. Machida.”
Ultimate Fighting Championship officials announced the middleweight bout on Wednesday. The fight will serve as the co-main event on a card headlined by Lyoto Machida against Luke Rockhold which takes place at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J, on April 18.
Originally slated to occur at UFC 184, the fight was cancelled after Jacare contracted pneumonia.
A winner of seven consecutive bouts, “Jacare” is undefeated since joining the UFC ranks from Strikeforce. The 34-year-old Brazilian is most recently coming off an impressive guillotine choke win against Gegard Mousasi at UFC Fight Night “Jacare vs. Mousasi 2.”
Romero will come into the Octagon riding a five-fight winning streak, including a controversial technical knockout victory against Tim Kennedy at UFC 178. The “Soldier of God” is also undefeated under the UFC banner, and eight of his nine wins have been finished before reaching the judges’ scorecards.
