Jared Hamman will square off with Michael Kuiper at UFC 150, according to a recent announcement made by Hamman’s management.
Alchemist Management revealed the pairing Monday night via Twitter. UFC 150 takes place Aug. 11 at Pepsi Center in Denver and will be headlined by a lightweight championship rematch between Benson Henderson and Frankie Edgar.
Hamman, 30, has posted a 2-3 record since joining the UFC in 2009 following a stint in the now-defunct EliteXC. Formerly competing at light heavyweight, “The Messenger” has alternated wins and losses in the Octagon, kicking off 2011 with a second-round knockout of C.B. Dollaway at UFC Live 5 in August. Most recently, Hamman was punched out by Constantinos Philippou at December’s UFC 140.
Kuiper will enter the cage eight years younger than his opponent. The Dutch prospect suffered the first loss of his pro career in his Feb. 4 UFC debut, falling by unanimous decision to Rafael Natal at UFC 143. The defeat snapped Kuiper’s 11-fight unbeaten streak, during which he finished all but one of his victims.
