Jesse Ronson Pulled from UFC 231 Bout vs. Diego Ferreira for Being ‘Too Heavy’
A scheduled lightweight clash between Jesse Ronson and Carlos Diego Ferreira has been pulled from the UFC 231 lineup on account of Ronson being “too heavy.”

“Unfortunately my fight this Saturday at UFC is off. I was too heavy to safely make the weight and perform so they pulled it,” Ronson wrote. “Ultimately better for my health but s—-y I lost my UFC deal. Look for [‘The Body Snatcher] in TKO soon or maybe [Rizin or One Championship].
“Who knows right now. I'm gutted. And would like to apologize to everyone at the UFC and all those who supported me.”
Ronson took the matchup on short notice after Ferreira’s original foe, John Makdessi, withdrew from the bout. Ronson went 0-3 in the UFC during a brief stint from September 2013 to July 2014 but re-signed with the promotion to take the short-notice bout against Ferreira. The 32-year-old Canadian had won his last five contests on the regional circuit.
UFC 231 takes place on Saturday at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto and is headlined by a featherweight title clash between Max Holloway and Brian Ortega.
