A strawweight clash pitting Jessica Aguilar against Jodie Esquibel originally scheduled for UFC Fight Night 131 in Utica, N.Y., last week has been rebooked for UFC Fight Night 133 in Boise, Idaho.
Aguilar confirmed the date via Instagram, though the bout has not been formally announced by the UFC. UFC Fight Night 133 takes place at CenturyLink Arena and his headlined by a heavyweight tilt between Junior dos Santos and Blagoy Ivanov. The card will likely air on Fox Sports 1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.
The original Aguilar-Esquibel matchup was scrapped hours before the fight by the New York State Athletic Commission due to a “medical issue.” Aguilar and her team indicated that she was pulled from the card due to chapped lips, but an NYSAC official told MMAFighting.com that “Jag” wasn’t allowed to fight due to a “potentially contagious medical issue.”
Aguilar, a former World Series of Fighting champion, is looking for her first UFC triumph after losing decisions to Cortney Casey-Sanchez and Claudia Gadelha in her initial two Octagon appearances. Esquibel, a six-time Invicta FC veteran, dropped a unanimous verdict against Karolina Kowalkiewicz at UFC Fight Night 118 in her first promotional foray.
