“I'm disappointed to announce that unfortunately I have had to withdraw from my upcoming fight with Juliana Lima at UFC 197 due to an injury sustained during training. I tore my ACL and will be undergoing surgery this upcoming Tuesday to repair the injury and start the road to recovery,” Aguilar wrote. “I have a great doctor and team around me; I'm confident that with their expertise, love and support, along with my determination to make a full recovery as fast as possible, I will be back in the Octagon before you know it. I'm focused on getting healthy and becoming the UFC champion.”
Aguilar, 33, made her promotional debut last August, dropping a unanimous decision to current 115-pound No. 1 contender Claudia Gadelha at UFC 190. That defeat ended a 10-fight winning streak for the American Top Team product.
UFC 197 takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and is headlined by a light heavyweight championship rematch between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones.
