Jessica Andrade to Move to Strawweight
According to the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s Portuguese-language web site, popular fighter Jessica Andrade is abandoning the bantamweight division for what might be friendlier confines down at strawweight.
Andrade, who was last seen being rear-naked choked by Raquel Pennington at UFC 191, has no timetable on when she’ll make her strawweight debut. She had previously won three straight bouts including a victory over Pennington. But things didn’t work out so well for “Bate Estaca” in 2015 as she went 1-2.
There is no word on who Andrade will fight when she begins her 115-pound voyage, nor did she mention any names. But considering that she’ll be naturally larger than most potential foes, the move down a weight division could certainly give her career a boost.
