Top-10 women’s bantamweight talent Jessica Andrade will get to fight on Brazilian soil when she faces Canada’s Valerie Letourneau in September.
Ultimate Fighting Championship officials Monday revealed that Andrade and Letourneau will square off as part of UFC Fight Night “Bigfoot vs. Arlovski,” which takes place Sept. 13 at Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasilia. Also announced today was a welterweight tilt pitting Brasilia native Igor Araujo against American George Sullivan.
The card is headlined by a heavyweight rematch between Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva and Andrei Arlovski.
Since faltering in her UFC debut against Liz Carmouche one year ago, Andrade has looked powerful in picking up a pair of decision wins over Raquel Pennington and Rosi Sexton. Tristar Gym representative Letourneau made her first Octagon appearance on June 14 and eked out a split decision against fellow newcomer Elizabeth Phillips.
Araujo enters his next bout on a six-fight winning streak, having outpointed Ildemar Alcantara and Danny Mitchell in his first two UFC bouts. Former Cage Fury Fighting Championships titlist Sullivan has won seven in a row and earned a unanimous nod over Mike Rhodes in his January debut at UFC on Fox 10.
