Jinh Yu Frey Reveals Cancellation of Invicta FC 22 Bout vs. Janaisa Morandin

An atomweight clash between Jinh Yu Frey and Janaisa Morandin set for Saturday’s Invicta Fighting Championships 22 card has been canceled. Frey revealed the news via Instagram on Friday.

“Unfortunately my fight has been scratched. My opponent came in 5.2 [pounds] over the weight limit. We knew she probably would and we're willing to accept up to 3.5 [pounds] over,” Frey wrote. “We also offered a stipulation that she would have to do a same day weigh in prior to the fight and not weigh over 116. This did not come to fruition. I am disappointed after the work I put in for camp and the weight cut. I am also upset that the people who put their faith in me for this camp have been let down.”

Invicta FC 22 will move forward with seven bouts. The card takes place at the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Mo., and is headlined by a bantamweight championship rematch between Tonya Evinger and Yana Kunitskaya. The event streams in its entirety on UFC Fight Pass at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Frey had a three-fight winning streak snapped in her last outing, as she lost to Ayaka Hamasaki via doctor stoppage 4:38 into the second round of their clash at Invicta FC 19. Morandin was set to make her promotional debut after compiling a 9-0 mark on the regional circuit.
