Joe Soto Replaces Cannetti, Meets Marco Beltran at UFC Fight Night Mexico City

Joe Soto will step in for Guido Cannetti and face Marco Beltran at UFC Fight Night 98 in Mexico City on Saturday (online betting).

The promotion recently announced the change. Cannetti was removed from the bantamweight contest after being flagged for a potential anti-doping violation last week. UFC Fight Night takes place at Mexico City Arena and is headlined by a lightweight duel between Tony Ferguson and Rafael dos Anjos. Beltran vs. Soto is set to air on FS1-televised portion of the prelims.

Soto is best known for facing T.J. Dillashaw in a 135-pound title bout on short notice at UFC 177. Soto lost that fight via fifth-round knockout, his first of three straight losses in the Octagon. He earned his first promotional triumph at UFC Fight Night “MacDonald vs. Thompson” with a third-round submission of Chris Beal.

Beltran is riding a three-fight winning streak, including a submission triumph over Reginaldo Vieira in his most recent outing at UFC Fight Night Night “Dos Anjos vs. Alvarez” on July 7.
