Joe Taimanglo and Darrion Caldwell will lock horns for a second time at Bellator 167 (online betting).
Promotion officials announced the rematch on Wednesday. Taimanglo upset the highly-touted Caldwell in their first meeting at Bellator 159 in July, submitting the former NCAA national champion wrestler with a guillotine choke in the third round. The matchup was presumably a No. 1 contender bout, but Taimanglo failed to make weight.
Bellator 167 takes place at Winstar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Okla., on Dec. 3 and is headlined by a rematch between Patricky Freire and Derek Campos. The evening’s main card will air on Spike TV at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT. It is the second of back-to-back events at the venue.
A former Pacific Xtreme Combat champion, Taimanglo has won four straight fights within Bellator MMA and is 23-6-1 as a professional overall. Prior to his loss against “The Juggernaut,” Caldwell had won his first nine pro outings, including a dominant first-round tapout of former two-division champion Joe Warren.
