John Hathaway-Dong Hyun Kim Headlines UFC’s March 1 Return to Macau

The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s next trip to Macau will be headlined by a welterweight showdown between John Hathaway and Dong Hyun Kim.

UFC officials Friday announced the March 1 booking, which is expected to serve as the live finale for the inaugural season of “TUF: China.” More details of the event will be released at a press conference on Saturday, according to an official release.

Hathaway, 26, has gone 7-1 since joining the UFC in 2009, with his only loss in that span coming to veteran Mike Pyle more than three years ago. Since that setback, the Englishman has posted three straight wins, outpointing Kris McCray and Pascal Kraus before doing the same to countryman John Maguire in September 2012. “The Hitman” was then expected to return to the cage in June opposite Erick Silva, but a back injury forced him out of the UFC on Fuel TV 10 booking.

Kim also rides a three-fight winning streak into the March 1 event, most recently knocking out Silva on Oct. 9 at UFC Fight Night 29. Prior that triumph, “Stun Gun” kicked off 2013 with a one-sided decision win over the hard-punching Siyar Bahadurzada and closed out last year by outpointing Paulo Thiago during the organization’s first trip to Macau at UFC on Fuel TV 6.
