Johny Hendricks-Tyron Woodley Welterweight Clash Set for UFC 192

A pivotal welterweight clash between Johny Hendricks and Tyron Woodley has been added to the UFC 192 lineup.

The bout was announced during UFC Tonight on Wednesday evening. UFC 192 takes place at the Toyota Center in Houston on Oct. 3 and is headlined by a 205-pound title tilt between Daniel Cormier and Alexander Gustafsson.

Hendricks, a former welterweight champion, returned to the win column in his most recent outing, as he captured a unanimous decision triumph over Matt Brown at UFC 185 in March. “Bigg Rigg” captured the vacant 170-pound strap with a five-round verdict over Robbie Lawler at UFC 171 before dropping the title in a rematch against “Ruthless” via split decision at UFC 181.

Woodley, meanwhile, has won two straight since falling to Rory MacDonald in June 2014. The 33-year-old American Top Team Evolution product followed that defeat with a first-round stoppage of Dong Hyun Kim at UFC Fight Night “Bisping vs. Le” before taking a split decision over Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 183 in January.
