Jon Fitch, Josh Burkman Cleared for WSOF 3 Headliner; Prelims Stream Live on Sherdog

Friday’s World Series of Fighting headliner will move forward as planned, as both Jon Fitch and Josh Burkman hit their contracted marks at Thursday’s WSOF 3 weigh-ins.

Fitch checked in at 171 pounds, while Burkman tipped the scales at 170 ahead of their welterweight rematch. The fighters first met in 2006 under the UFC banner, with Fitch submitting “The People’s Warrior” with a second-round rear-naked choke at Fight Night 4.

WSOF 3 takes place at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and will also see Tyson Steele (170) take on Steve Carl (169.5) in a pivotal welterweight co-main event. The evening’s main draw airs live on NBC Sports Network and will additionally feature two 155-pound bookings pitting Brian Cobb (155) against Justin Gaethje (156) and former UFC staple Jacob Volkmann (155.5) against ex-Strikeforce talent Lyle Beerbohm (155.5).

Immediately prior to the main card broadcast, the five-fight preliminary draw streams live on Sherdog.com. The undercard is highlighted by a lightweight contest between UFC veterans John Gunderson (154.5) and Dan Lauzon (156), as well as a featherweight meeting of once-beaten competitors Jeff Smith (*146.4) and Jerrod Sanders (146).
