Jose Aldo Shoots Down Injury Rumors, Posts Gym Pics with Footballer Thiago Silva

Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo today denied rumors that an injury has taken him out of an upcoming bout with Frankie Edgar.

Aldo on Tuesday took to social media to shut down the injury story, which was reported on BJPenn.com by way of an unverified Facebook source. The 29-year-old Brazilian posted photos of himself -- alongside Paris St. Germain footballer Thiago Silva -- from a training session at Nova Uniao gym in Rio de Janeiro.

“Thiago Silva was at training today! Good to see you, brother!” Aldo wrote. “You guys read right: training! 100%! Where is the injury?”

“No injury B.S. here!” Aldo wrote in another post.

Aldo and Edgar are set to vie for the UFC interim featherweight title on July 9 at UFC 200. The bout will mark Aldo’s first appearance since being knocked out by Conor McGregor at December’s UFC 194. Prior to that defeat, Aldo had reigned over the 145-pound division for more than six years, running up an 18-fight unbeaten streak with wins against the likes of Edgar, Urijah Faber and Chad Mendes.
