Julia Budd will defend her featherweight title against Talita Nogueira in the Bellator 202 headliner.
Promotion officials announced the bout on Monday. Bellator 202 takes place at the Winstar World Resort and Casino in Thackerville, Okla., on July 13 and airs on the Paramount Network at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT. In the co-main event, UFC veteran Michael McDonald will face ex-bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas.
Budd captured the inaugural women’s featherweight crown with a fourth-round stoppage of Marloes Coenen at Bellator 174 before defending the belt with a split verdict over Arlene Blencowe at Bellator 189 this past December. The 34-year-old Canadian owns an 11-2 career record that also includes a triumph over former UFC featherweight queen Germaine de Randamie.
A 32-year-old native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Nogueira is unbeaten in seven professional appearances. She made her promotional debut at Bellator 182, where she submitted Amanda Bell with a rear-naked choke in the first round last August. “Treta” has finished two of her victories by KO/TKO and five via submission.
After a 6-3 stint with the UFC, McDonald signed with the Scott Coker-led organization last year and debuted with a three-round verdict over Peter Ligier at Bellator 191 on Dec. 15. “Mayday” is 18-4 as a pro, with 15 triumphs coming inside the distance.
Dantas had a four-bout winning streak snapped at Bellator 184, as he relinquished the 135-pound strap to Darrion Caldwell in a five-round decision defeat in October. The 29-year-old Brazilian is 10-2 under the Bellator banner and 20-5 as a professional overall.
