Junior dos Santos will return to the Octagon against Stipe Miocic in the UFC on Fox 13 main event on Dec. 13.
Dos Santos has been out of action since UFC 166 when he lost to heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez for a second time. The 30-year-old Brazilian was originally scheduled to fight Miocic in May, but a broken hand forced Dos Santos to withdraw from the bout, forcing the UFC to insert Fabio Maldonado. “Cigano” has lost two of his last three fights, with both defeats coming at the hands of Velasquez.
Miocic has been on a tear since joining the UFC ranks in 2011, winning six of his seven fights. The Independence, Ohio, native has defeated some of the top heavyweights the UFC has to offer, with wins over the likes of Roy Nelson and Gabriel Gonzaga. A victory over Dos Santos could put Miocic in line for a title shot in the near future.
