A bout between flyweight contenders Jussier da Silva and Wilson Reis is on tap for UFC Fight Night in Goiana, Brazil, on May 30.
Combate first brought word of the matchup, as well as a welterweight showdown pitting T.J. Waldburger against Wendell de Oliveira Marques. In addition, PVT recently reported that a lightweight clash between Gilbert Burns and Norman Parke has been slated for the May 30 card. MMAFighting.com subsequently confirmed all three bouts.
UFC Fight Night takes place at Goiana Arena and is headlined by a welterweight duel between Carlos Condit and Thiago Alves.
Da Silva has won two straight fights, taking out Scott Jorgensen and Zach Makovsky in back-to-back outings. “Formiga” is 3-2 since beginning his UFC tenure in 2012. Reis, meanwhile, has won three of four in the Octagon, including victories over Jorgensen and Joby Sanchez since dropping to flyweight from 135 pounds.
Marques had a seven-fight win streak halted in his first promotional appearance, as he suffered a first-round knockout loss to Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC Fight Night “Bigfoot vs. Arlovski 2.” Waldburger was supposed to face Marques on Feb. 23, but he fainted during his weight cut and the fight was canceled; the American has lost three of his last four bouts.
Burns, a highly-touted prospect, rallied for to earn his third straight UFC victory with a third-round submission of Alex Oliveira on March 21. After winning four of his last five outings, Parke dropped a split decision to Gleison Tibau in his last appearance at UFC Fight Night in Boston.
