A flyweight bout between Jussier da Silva and Zach Makovsky has been slated for UFC 176.

Ultimate Fighting Championship officials Tuesday announced the matchup, which takes place Aug. 2 at Staples Center in Los Angeles and precedes a featherweight title main event pitting Jose Aldo against Chad Mendes.

Da Silva, 29, has gone 2-2 since joining the UFC in 2012. Better known as Jussier “Formiga,” the world’s former top-ranked flyweight last competed on March 23, when he choked out Scott Jorgensen in just over three minutes at UFC Fight Night “Shogun vs. Henderson 2.”

Makovsky, 31, rides a four-fight winning streak into his clash with da Silva. A former Bellator bantamweight champion, “Fun Size” made the cut to flyweight last year and earned a pair of unanimous decision wins to kick off his UFC career, first outpointing Jorgensen in December before doing the same to Josh Sampo this past February.
