Injury hasn't kept Jussier da Silva on the sideline long and now he's got another date in the The Ultimate Fighting Championship.
According to a report by Brazilian outlet Combate, “Formiga” will make his Octagon return at UFC Fight Night 106 on March 11, taking on prospect Ray Borg. The event takes place at Northeast Olympic Training Center in Fortaleza, Brazil, headlined by a middleweight bout between Vitor Belfort and Kelvin Gastelum.
Da Silva was expected to face Sergio Pettis at UFC Fight Night 103 in Phoenix on Jan. 15, but bowed out due to an ankle injury and was replaced by John Moraga. Following a victory over Dustin Ortiz last September, the 31-year-old “Formiga” has won four of his last five bouts.
Borg, 23, lost a close split decision in his April 2014 UFC debut to the aforementioned Ortiz, but has since gone 4-1 himself in the Octagon. Following a loss to Justin Scoggins last February, Borg came back at UFC 207 in January and won a unanimous decision over Louis Smolka. However, the Albuquerque native weighed in at 129.5 pounds for the Smolka fight and gave up 30 percent of his purse.
UFC Fight Night 106 is the UFC's second event in Fortaleza. In June 2013, Fabricio Werdum submitted Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira via second-round armbar at the Paulo Sarasate Gymnasium in Fortaleza at the UFC on Fuel TV 10.
