Justin Gaethje to Defend Lightweight Title Against Brian Foster at WSOF 29
World Series of Fighting lightweight champion Justin Gaethje’s next title defense will come in front of a hometown crowd.
The 27-year-old Colorado native is set to face recent one-night tournament winner Brian Foster in the main event of WSOF 29, which will take place March 12 at Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colo. MMAFighting.com first reported the news on Monday.
Gaethje holds an unblemished record of 15-0 and has successfully defended the WSOF 155-pound strap four times since claiming the vacant title in 2014. “The Highlight” last year fought twice against Luis Palomino, besting the “Baboon” via technical knockout in both encounters.
Foster, 31, earned his shot at the belt by being the last man standing in WSOF’s one-night, eight-man lightweight tournament last November. The UFC veteran was defeated by Joao Zeferino in the bracket’s opening round, only to return as an injury replacement to defeat Palomino and Zeferino via knockout.
