In a rematch of sorts from Pride 10 “Return of the Warriors,” Renzo Gracie will look to avenge his submission loss to Kazushi Sakuraba at Metamoris 5.
Also on the jiu-jitsu bill will be Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight Rory MacDonald against J.T. Torres.
Metamoris announced the pairings on Wednesday. The submission-only event will take place Nov. 22 at Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, Calif., and will stream live via Metamoris.com.
The card will also include Yuri Simoes against Rafael Lovato, Vinny Magalhaes taking on Kevin Casey, Garry Tonon versus Zak Maxwell, and the always mysterious “secret match.”
Gracie will be be busy in the jiu-jitsu world in the near future, as the 47-year-old has already signed up to compete against Matt Hughes at ADCC 2015. Meanwhile, “The Gracie Hunter” will look to add another notch on his belt at the Gracie family’s expense, as Sakuraba will compete for the first time since losing to Yan Cabral at Dream 17.
MacDonald is set to fight Tarec Saffiedine at UFC Fight Night “MacDonald vs. Saffiedine” in October. The 25-year-old will be taking on Torres, a well-known jiu-jitsu black belt with a long list of accomplishments. Most recently, “Spiderman” claimed the 2013 World BJJ No-Gi Championship.
